Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan is known as the 'Householders' yoga, meaning that it is suitable for everyone irrespective of their flexibility, strength or stamina.  Kundalini yoga helps to quickly build all of these amongst other things such as concentration, memory, breath control and focus.

Kundalini Yoga classes are broken down into four sections.  To begin there is a warm up, followed by a set timed kriya, a combination of postures, which have a desired outcome.  For example, a kriya may focus on cleansing the liver or on strengthening the immune system.  Kriyas are selected based on the time of the year and the needs of the class.  There is then a meditation which may use specific mantras (virbrational words) and mudras (hand positions) which have a desired outcome such as improving intuitiveness.  Finally there is a 10 minute relaxation where the body has time to rejuvenate and heal.

 

Kundalini is suitable for all levels both young and old, fit and unfit.
